Mary Hervey

July 15, 1943 — April 12, 2018

Mary Helen Harper Hervey was born July 15, 1943 in Dallas, Texas. She was the first born of seven children to the union of Noble and Willie Mae Harper, who both preceded her in death. At ten years old, she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she attended Los Angeles Unified Schools. During her school years, she met Earlee Hervey. They became married and had three children, LaRhonda, Ronald and Jaqueline. Both Earlee and Ronald preceded her in death. Later on she met Isaiah Jenkins and they had a son, Derrick Jenkins who also preceded her in death.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA where she became president of the Usher Board. Mary moved many times but she always found a church home. She attended Imperial Church of Christ (Los Angeles, CA), Perris Church of Christ and Ovilla Church of Christ (Ovilla, TX).

Mary gained experience from many jobs. She worked as a receptionist for the Department of Children and family services for 25 years, she retired from there in 2004.

Mary loved traveling, going on family outings, cooking and laughing with family and friends about how they all grew up. She was loving and helpful to all who crossed her path.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two sisters, Darlene Gibbons and Elaine Harper; two daughters, LaRhonda Kenney and Jacqueline Hervey; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will truly be missed.
