SIDNEY REEVES

October 27, 1959 — June 7, 2018

Without warning, death plucked a flower from our garden on June 7, 2018, and Sidney Lee Reeves, Jr.’s soul was laid to rest.

Sidney was born on October 27, 1959 to the parentage of Sidney Lee Reeves, Sr. and Delores Reeves. Later in his life, his mother met and married James Ellis who raised Sidney as his own. Sidney received his education in the Dallas Independent School District, graduating from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 1978.

Sidney was employed by LTV/Vought, Quaker Oats, and Sterlite which was his last place of employment after he became disabled.

Sidney accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church in 2004. He served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee, he worked in the Children’s Church, and as one of the church’s recording clerks.

Sidney had an outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. If you were hungry, Sidney would feed you, if you didn’t have any clothes, Sidney would give you clothes. He was just that kind of person. He had an abundance of friends and they all thought highly of him. His hobbies included playing dominoes, playing football on his PlayStation, watching westerns and cooking. He was famous for his skills on the grill and known best for his delicious peach cobbler.

In 2005, Sidney met the love of his life, Janet Darlene Holmes and they were united in holy matrimony on July 22, 2006. At that time, her children became his children, creating one big
happy family. Their life together was blissful, creating memories that would last until the Lord called Sidney home.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Janet D. Reeves; mother, Delores Ellis; father, Sidney Lee Reeves, Sr.; two brothers, Cleathon Ellis, and Kenneth Johnson; one sister, Cynthia Owens; children, Christy Williams and DJ Williams, (Becky); grandchildren, Phillip Williams, Kiara Morris (Chris), and Unique Heath; great-grandchildren, Cameron White, Na’Riah Morris, Khy’Rie Wallace, and Julian Williams; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Mondy, Mary Jackson, Carolyn Horton (Frank), and Ruth Bessard (Joe); one brother-in-law, George Fields; his god-parents, Joe and Juanzelle Brantley; special mother, Mrs. Betty Hill;, his god-daughter, Kailen White; his godson, Jaedyn Rowen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sidney was preceded in death by his step-father, James Ellis; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Glover; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie James Reeves; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
