ALFRED RAY WILEY SR "HICKS"

Alfred Ray Wiley Sr. Hicks, affectionately known as “Boy Dogg,” and “Pop Wiley,” passed away on October 5, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 26, 1957, and lived a life marked by warmth, laughter, and a presence that drew people in. Charismatic and full of spirit, he was known as the life of the party, a man who loved to laugh and who was known and loved by all. Above all, he loved his family deeply, and the pride he carried for his children and grandchildren remained one of the defining joys of his life.

Alfred was a graduate of L.G. Pinkston High School, Class of 1976. He found happiness in simple and memorable pleasures: dancing, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and working with his hands. Those who knew him will remember the energy he brought into a room, the easy laughter he shared, and the way his love for family showed itself again and again in the way he lived.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Shanqualia Freeman and her husband Albert, Shawana Greene, Monica Strhan and her husband Charles, Laletta Bursey, Alfred R. Wiley Jr. and his wife Aquandelyn, and Cedrick A. Williams. He is also survived by his brothers Willard Wiley, Dennis Wiley, Steven Wiley Sr., Clifford Wiley Sr., Anthony Wiley, Glendale Franklin, Woodrow Franklin, Jr. Paul Wiley and Eric Noble ; and by his sisters Brenda Barnett, Linda F. White and her husband Carl. In their love, in their memories, and in the stories they will continue to tell, his spirit will remain close.

He was preceded in death by his mothers, Willie Lee Hicks and Bobbie Jean Wiley; his father, Mr Albert Hicks; his grandchild, Claudie Perry Jr.; his great-grandchild, Brayden Charles Ray Rylander; his sisters Vickie Wiley, Dora Lee Griffin, Jo Ann Franklin, and Mary Ruth Carraway; and his brother Kenneth Wiley and grandmother Big Mama Dora Lee. Their memories were a part of his life and remain a part of the family’s story.

A memorial service for Alfred Ray Wiley Sr. will be held on October 9, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home - Dallas-ALLENE, 4155 S. R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75224.

Alfred’s life was filled with personality, devotion, and joy. He will be remembered for his laughter, his love, his unmistakable spirit, and the way he made family the center of all that mattered most.
