Alvarnus Lee Hanson, affectionately known to family and friends as, “Verna Lee” or “Ms. Al,” transitioned to eternal life on November 13, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy filled with kindness, love, strength, and a smile that would light up any room! Born on December 30, 1942, in Magnolia, Arkansas to the parents of Eddie Lee Hildreth and Garnies Lee (Stevenson) Hildreth. Both parents have preceded her in death.
Verna Lee made the sacred decision to accept the Lord Jesus, by faith, into her life as a teen. In adulthood, she faithfully served many years on the Usher Board ministry-welcoming all with hospitality and a smile, into the house of God. Outside her labor in the ministry, Verna Lee worked professionally as an Assembler for over 30 years for TI, Motorola and Xerox. She retired in 2004.
As the eldest of 11 children, she is preceded in death by fivesisters and two brothers: Evelyn Lee (the late Forest Lee, Jr), Lois McShan (the late Gary McShan), Bertha Williams (the late Ted Williams), Jacqueline Parsha Taylor (the late LaVaughn Taylor), Shelina Parsha and twin brothers, Allen and Alvin Hildreth (all passed in infancy). Verna Lee leaves behind two sisters and one brother to cherish her memory: Marilyn Hildreth-Jimmerson (the late Michael Jimmerson), Wonder Parsha Murphy (the late Clarence Murphy), and Keith Parsha.
Verna Lee entered matrimony with Floyd Lee Hanson on September 16, 1960, in Magnolia, Arkansas. From this union, was born three children whom she dearly loved, Suzanne Hanson Lacy, Floyd Lee Hanson, Jr., Tonya Hanson Merriweather, and her beloved stepson, Bruce Edward Morgan, who preceded her in death. She leaves five cherished grandchildren: Krystal Nicole Lacy, Krystin NaShay Lacy-Betters (LeJerald Betters), Ashley Michelle Hanson, Stefon Elijah Hanson, and Timothy Earl Merriweather II. Her six great-grandchildren whom she loved and kept her smiling are Kayla Rush, Keylon Rush, Kaniya Linscome, Kaleb Betters, Maleia Green and Milani Hanson. Verna Lee is survived by four beautiful sister-in-law’s and one beloved brother-in-law: Beatrice Weatheroy, Beola Holmes, Margie Hines, Erma Hanson, Shelia and Weldon Hanson (married); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that gave her so much joy in life.
