ANDRE STEPHENS

January 3, 1968 — January 2, 2026

Andre Dimitri Stephens, affectionately known as “Short Dog,” was born on January 3, 1968, in Dallas, Texas, to Carol Arvie and Oscar Menefee.

Andre graduated from North Garland High School in 1986, where he was admired for his athleticism and competitive spirit. He excelled in track, impressing classmates and teammates with his speed and determination. Beyond athletics, Andre enjoyed shooting pool—a hobby that reflected his precision, focus, and enjoyment of friendly competition. His high school years showcased the drive, talent, and engaging personality that would become the foundation of his lifelong character.

He worked for Quality Towing for several years before resigning due to declining health over the last 25 years. During this time, Andre faced immense medical challenges, including paralysis from the waist down and numerous surgeries to prevent life threatening infections. Despite it all, he remained a fighter. He never allowed his paralysis to define him or diminish his spirit.

His courage, perseverance, and strength were undeniable—he was, without question, a survivor. Andre and Dorothy Stephens were united in marriage on June 30, 1989, in Dallas, Texas. Andre was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished brother, and proud grandfather whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

Andre faced life’s challenges with quiet courage and dignity. Throughout every season, his resilience, grace, and strength inspired those closest to him. Even in moments of great adversity, his spirit never wavered. His smile, gentle spirit, and steadfast perseverance will be forever remembered. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy of love will continue to live in the hearts of all who loved him.

Andre was preceded in glory by his parents, Carol Arvie and Oscar Menefee; his grandmother, Myrtle Stephens; and his grandfather, Carl Stephens Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife: Dorothy Stephens, his devoted partner of 25 years; Two sons: Andre Stephens Jr. (Jasmine) Dennis Stephens (Jalessa); Two grandchildren: Ja’marveon Stephens and Drea Stephens; One goddaughter: Jada Harper; Three sisters: Carla Edwards (David) of Mesquite, TX, Kimberly Harper (Jarvis) of Lewisville, TX, Jamie Arvie of Flower Mound, TX; Three brothers: Royce Stephens (Sandra) of Lewisville, TX, Joseph Stephens of Dallas, TX, Marcus Arvie Sr. (Sabra) of Allen, TX

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
