Aniya JeNe Edwards, born September 10, 2005, passed away on August 25, 2026. In her 20 years, she made a lasting impression on the people around her through her bright spirit, caring heart, and deep love for family. Aniya was funny, full of life, sweet-spirited, and very outgoing. She never met a stranger, and her generosity and willingness to help others reflected both her loving nature and her faith. She loved the Lord and carried herself with a warmth that drew people in.
Aniya was a proud graduate of Red Oak High School, Class of 2023. Among the accomplishments that meant the most to her were graduating high school, getting her first car on her own, and becoming a responsible adult. These milestones spoke to her determination and growing independence, and they were a source of pride for all who loved her.
She enjoyed basketball, listening to music, fashion, and going to the gym to work out. She embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, and her presence brought joy wherever she went. One of the most cherished memories of Aniya will always be her love for her siblings, a love that showed her family-centered heart and the tenderness she carried for those closest to her.
Aniya leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Adreana Davis, and her stepfather, Brandon Davis and father, Aldrick Edwards. She is also survived by her sister, Briana Davis, and her brother, Brandon Davis Jr., whom she loved dearly. Her memory will continue to be held close by her maternal grandparents, Lavoris Montgomery and Aaron Montgomery, and Robin Andrus; her paternal grandmother, Bevelyn Giddens; her paternal great-grandmother, Ima Gene Edwards; and her maternal great-grandmother, Golden Andrus.
She also leaves behind a loving extended family, including her aunts Seleta Andrus, Jasmine Andrus-Lynn (Jamaal) , Alantra Montgomery, Bre'Anna Fowler, as well as her uncles Aaron Montgomery Jr., Ashton Montgomery, and Jamal Webb (Marquita). Each of them, along with special cousin Jamarian Andrus-Lynn and many other relatives and friends, will remember Aniya for her caring spirit, her kindness, and the way she made people feel welcomed and loved.
Aniya was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jacquelyn Davis; her great grandfather, Jesse Andrus Sr.; and her aunt, Jonaye Bryant. Their memories remain joined with hers in the hearts of those who love them.
A wake service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at One Community Church, 200 East Interstate 30, Garland, Texas 75043. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at One Community Church, 200 East Interstate 30, Garland, Texas 75043.
Aniya Jene Edwards will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, her faith, and the love she gave so freely. Her life, though far too brief, was filled with meaning, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
