ANTHONY ONEAL SIMS

Anthony “Puncho” Sims was born on August 15, 1964, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the union of Othan Carter and Helen Sims. At an early age, Anthony accepted Christ and developed a strong faith in the Almighty God. He was a man who was not afraid to share his faith and beliefs with others.

He was raised in Oakland, California, where he graduated from Oakland High School. He later continued his education at Heald Technical College. As a young adult, Anthony returned to Monroe, Louisiana to live, before eventually making Texas his home.

Anthony was a devoted Oakland Raiders fan. Although he did not particularly care for the team’s name change to the Las Vegas Raiders, he remained a true Raiders fan at heart.

Throughout his professional life, Anthony held various positions, including Supply Technician at the Alameda Naval Air Station, Forklift Operator, and positions with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Allied Universal Security, where he was assigned to the CSL location, before becoming ill.

Anthony possessed a warm and friendly spirit that naturally drew people to him. He was a natural leader who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness, generosity, and welcoming personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Othan Carter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Helen Sims; three children, Anisa Sims, Alisa Younger-Sims, and Keyihuna Turk; four sisters, Karen (Timothy), Angela, Melanie, and Shaunte; one brother, Mike (Renae); six grandchildren, Urie, Toni, Ava, LaRenz, Ta’Leah, and Joshua Jr.; one great-grandchild, Joshua III; and a host of aunts, great-aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Anthony’s life was a blessing to many, his memory a treasure, and his love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
