Arlis Trent Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, uncle, teacher, and community member, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Mansfield, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on November 11, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Arlis dedicated his life to education and service, inspiring countless students during his tenure as a teacher at Arlington Independent School District. He also thrived as a computer consultant for 30 years, contributing his expertise and knowledge to the evolving technological landscape.
A man of deep conviction, Arlis served in the U.S. Army, embodying the values of dedication and resilience. His serious yet fun-loving personality made him a cherished figure among family, friends, and colleagues alike. Arlis was a formidable competitor, whether he was playing basketball, and he fiercely supported his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Arlis was not only a remarkable educator and devoted sports enthusiast; he was also a respected spiritual leader as a deacon at Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, until moving to Texas where he became a member of St. John Unleased Church, Grand Prairie, Tx. His impact extended beyond the classroom and the football field, permeating the lives of those who sought his guidance and support.
In his personal life, Arlis was a loving husband to Marcia for 38 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. Arlis took great joy in being a grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of eight grandchildren who will remember him as a source of wisdom and strength.
A prayer service will be held on August 27, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, starting at 7:15 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day at St. John Church Unleased in Grand Prairie, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Arlis Trent Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
