BETHENA BRYANT

Bethena Sue Bryant was born on April 27, 1936 in Carthage, Texas to the parents of Joe Thomas and Emma Grant.

On July 6, 2026, she peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home surrounded by the loved ones who cherished her most.

Mama Sue was preceded in death by both parents; Joe Thomas and Emma Grant; her daughter Glen Doris King, her son Ralph Stacy Martin; her siblings, Johnny Grant, Connie Grant, Wallace Grant, Amos Grant, Joe B. Thomas, Martha Clark, Lucy Edwards, her grandson David Wells, and her great grandson DeAndre Bryant.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Rickey Martin, Sandra Benton, Eleanor Sweeny (Luther), Linda Crayton (Raymond Jr.), Johnny Williams, Allen Williams (Cathy) and Bernestyne Elder (Cedric Sr.). Grandkids – Tabitha Krystoffer, LaTasha, Yolanda Kassyli, LaPorche, Cedric Jr. Bobby, Charmyne, Dori, Raymond III, Syreeta, Urbi, Jamilla and her baby Te’Norys; Twenty-one great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, siblings – Denora, Senora, Sybil, Mary Jean, Daphne, Pat, Diane, Milton, Joanne, and a host of family and friends whose lives were impacted by her loving spirit and kindness.

Bethena received her education in East Texas between Carthage and Timpson Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at The Real Baptist Church, The River of Life, and in her final days, she fellowshipped at Full Table Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth D. Hartfield & First Lady Dana Hartfield.

She was employed at Parkland Hospital where she retired after servicing for 20+ years.

Mama Sue, as she was affectionally called by all that knew and met her will be remembered for her legacy of strength, love, and service of giving, her big smile and the love of the Lord and her Blues.
