Bettie Roy Jones was born May 16, 1944, to the parents of Roy Wilson and Helen Marie Williams. She departed this life from her earthly home on December 5, 2025, at the age of 81.
Bettie was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dallas, Tx. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at University of Texas in Arlington, a milestone that reflected her commitment to education and prepared her for a remarkable career in teaching. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, a passionate grower of Fern and Ivy plants, avid fan of old westerns and community volunteer.
Bettie was a beloved school teacher in Dallas Independent School District where she dedicated over 28 years to nurturing young minds in Dallas, Texas. Her infectious enthusiasm for both English and Math inspired generations of students, making each lesson feel like an adventure. She had a gift for bringing learning to life, transforming classrooms into spaces of curiosity, creativity, and joy.
Beyond the classroom, Bettie’s vibrant spirit shone through her love of football. She was a proud fan of the NFL’s Washington Redskins—now the Commanders—and cheered them on with unwavering loyalty. Her excitement for the game matched the energy she brought to her teaching and to life itself. Bettie also held deep admiration for the brotherhood and values of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, and carried a strong respect for the traditions and service of the United States Marine Corps.

Bettie leaves to cherish her precious memories: three children, Ryan Trevor Jones (Mariscia), Teresa Michelle Jones, and Jerome Patrick Jones. Five grandsons: Marcus Sawyer, Nicholas Ryan Jones, Justin Patrick Jones, Bryson Jones, Jerron Jones, and other family and friends.
