Betty Gaston, born August 29, 1933, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 8, 2026. She was 92 years old.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Betty was a woman of strength, grace, and compassion. Her unwavering dedication to her family, church, and community left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Betty was a loyal and hardworking member of Mary Kay Cosmetics for over 30 years, where she built lasting relationships and inspired many.
Betty’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a lifelong member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities for more than 60 years. Her kindness, wisdom, and devotion to the church touched the lives of countless individuals, and she was a source of spiritual support and love to all who encountered her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eula Black, and her father, Robert Madison, both of whom she held dear throughout her life. Also preceded in death by husband, Max Gaston and daughter, Maxilene Brown.
Betty was a proud graduate of Booker T Washington High School, where she created lifelong friendships and laid the groundwork for her future success.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Eulane Hart (Rev. Monty Hart); five grandchildren: Anthony Dawn, Clinton Brown, Michael Brown, and Amanda Brown (Brandon Brown), Reginald Lewis, four great-grandchildren: Auchana Dawn, Ja'Vay Dawn, Titus Muse Jr., and A’yani Brown; as well as two great-great-grandchildren Nas and Nova. Each of them was blessed by her love and guidance.
Betty will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her deep and unwavering faith, and her endless love for her family and her community. Her legacy of love, strength, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
