BETTYE A. CORNELIUS

April 1, 1941 — November 22, 2025

BETTYE A. MALONE CORNELIUS

In the tranquil embrace of her beloved Rowlett, Texas, Bettye A. Cornelius departed from this earthly realm on November 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with compassion, wisdom, and steadfast love. Born on April 1, 1941, in the heart of Tennessee Colony, Texas, she blossomed into a beacon of strength and kindness, dedicating her life to the noble pursuit of teaching for an impressive 44 years.

Bettye's career was more than just a job; it was her calling. Her spirit resonated with joy as she devoted her days to nurturing young minds, imparting knowledge not simply through lessons but also through heartfelt acts—like assisting her students in acquiring their school supplies, ensuring they were prepared and confident for the challenges ahead. This commitment to education was but one thread in the rich tapestry of her existence, where Christ held the firm center of her life guiding her every decision.

To many, Bettye was the embodiment of a jovial, friendly soul who placed family above all. As a devoted mother, she sacrificed her own desires to ensure the happiness of her children, Shunette "Shante" L. Cornelius, Bruce A. Cornelius Jr. (Monique), and Bobby A. Cornelius. Her proudest accomplishments included watching her son and daughter graduate from college and receiving many accolades throughout her career, which served as a testament to her relentless dedication and passion for education. The joy she found in her family was mirrored in the love she saw reflected in her grandson, Christian Gilchrist (Jessica), whose laughter she cherished deeply.

Her personality—a delightful blend of introversion and warmth—was marked by a peacemaker's spirit. She touched the lives of countless individuals with her empathy and willingness to help others. Bettye's interests included playing piano, reading, and enjoying the culinary artistry showcased on the Food Network, pursuits that allowed her to express both her creative and nurturing sides.

Bettye is survived by her loving family: her brothers, Howard Malone (Barbara) and Anthony Malone; her dear sisters, Clementine "Sue" Smiley (Jeff) and Beverly "Cookie" Harris (Isaac); and her cherished daughter and sons, whose lives she profoundly impacted. While her father, Eddie Malone, Sr., mother, Lou Netta Malone, bonus mother, Zelma K. Malone, and her beloved daughter, Lawann J. Rexilius, alongside her brother, Eddie Malone, Jr., and sister, Elizabeth Dowdy, rest peacefully in the eternal embrace, her loving spirit continues to thrive in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

As we gather to celebrate Bettye’s life, we invite all who were touched by her gentle spirit to share in the memories of a remarkable woman whose legacy of love and compassion will forever echo in the lives she so profoundly influenced. Viewing will be held on December 10, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home, Dallas, and a funeral service will take place on December 11, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, also at the same location.
