Carrie Dean (Cyrus) Moorer was born on July 22, 1931 through the union of her late parents Reverend O.T. Cyrus and James Etta Cyrus of Streetman, TX.
At an early age, she accepted Christ under the pastorage of her father, Reverend O.T. Cyrus at Rocky Branch Primitive Baptist Church. Mother Carrie Moorer received her education in Freestone County.
She met and married Arvin James Moorer on December 31, 1952. They later moved to Dallas, Texas where they joined Greater St. John Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Forrest L. Livingston. She was a faithful member there until July 2003, at which time she moved to Exciting Greater New St. John Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Davis where she served faithfully until her death.
Carrie lived a full life which included caring for her four children, holding a job as a domestic worker, serving dutifully on the Mother’s board, singing in the Imperial Choir, and also with her siblings, the Cyrus Gospel Aires.
Carrie answered the trumpet sound early Saturday morning and entered into her heavenly reward.
She was loved dearly by her siblings, Annie Jewel Fisher, Surrilda Ross, Margarine Bennett, Priscilla Demus, McKinley Cyrus, and Mitchell Cyrus.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arvin J. Moorer , grandson Kendrick L. Hall and siblings Doretha Cyrus Willis, Jeffey C. Cyrus, Dimple Cyrus Jackson, and R.T. Cyrus.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son James D. Moorer (Carolyn), three daughters Carolyn A. Moorer, Debra R. Warren, and Sharon D. Moorer; her eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
