CATHLEEN ISLAND

Tommie Island and Lee Bertha welcomed a beautiful baby girl on December 21, 1951 and named her Cathleen Island.

Cathleen was a loving mother of 3 children and passed away at the age of 67. She attended 102nd St. elementary, Markham Junior High and David Starr Jordan High School in California.

She accepted Christ at and early age under the leadership of Pastor Lucy Davis, of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church of Los Angeles.

Cathleen passion was dancing and cooking living life to the fullest. She was known for her infectious laugh, kind and compassionate spirit.

Cathleen worked for McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach California from 1986-1992 as an aircraft mechanic and then later went to work for Gulf Stream as a mechanic. She became sick in 1998 and had to retire early due to health problems.

She moved to Texas in 2001 and continued to live in Texas. Cathleen Island left to go home and be with the Lord on November 12, 2019. She joins her father, Tommie Island; mother, Lee Bertha Island; son William Price Jr.; sister, Jessie Branch; brother, Don Island.

Those who are left to cherish her memory: daughters, Lisa Wiltz, TraNail Hughes (Gerald); Jonece Hughes; brothers, Tommie Island Jr, Gregory Island, Michael Island, Joseph Higgins; sisters, Bertha Island, Clarena Davis; grandson, Carvesta Williams Jr., DeAneglo McMutry; granddaughter , Mi Kayla Patterson; great grandkids Micha and Nicholas Williams; 2 special nieces, Shareda Robinson; Jackueline Bland; God sister, Alice Thomas and a host of nieces nephews and family.
