CELESTINE WILKINS

August 26, 1952 — February 7, 2026

CELESTINE WILKINS, a luminous soul born on August 26, 1952, in the vibrant heart of Dallas, Texas, departed this world on February 7, 2026. She left behind a legacy as rich and textured as the most intricate tapestry, woven together with love, faith, and an unwavering spirit.

Celestine was more than just a name; she embodied a life dedicated to the art of caring and creativity. A gifted interior decorator, her keen eye transformed spaces into warm, inviting homes. Her nurturing presence shone brightly in her role as a caregiver at the AIDS Center, where she selflessly tended to the needs of others, embodying the very essence of compassion. As the proud owner of a dry cleaners, she brought a touch of sparkle to the everyday, reminding us all of the beauty found in life's simplest details.

An alumnus of L.G. Pinkston High School, Celestine was a passionate and fearless woman, characterized by her spicy yet sweet demeanor. With a heart that was both meek and bold, she traversed life’s challenges without fear, always leading with honesty and grace. A fervent spiritual guide, she devoted herself to mentoring young women, dedicated to sharing her wisdom and faith in God. Celestine's presence was a blessing, and her influence extended far beyond her immediate family and friends.

Her interests reflected her multifaceted personality: from the joy found in writing and decorating to the simple pleasures of shopping and piecing together jigsaw puzzles. She had a special fondness for romance novels, where love stories came alive, mirroring her own adventurous spirit, especially when it came to travel—cruises were her escape, and shopping sprees in Las Vegas brought her delight.

Celestine is survived by a loving family who cherished her deeply. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Faronda Cornish, Shannon Wilson, Ma'Ryea Wilkins, and Abby Wilkins; her son, Travis Cornish; and her cherished grandchildren, Michael Wilson, Alayna Wilson, Maya Cornish, Dameon Cornish, Aliyah Cornish, Tryniti Cornish, Earlandrya Jefferson, and Dewayne Rhone II. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy: Dewayne Rhone III, Amari Mitchell, Jacob Washington, Elani Washington, Jasiahn Washington, Jalen Washington, Elijah Jackson, and Emani Washington. Celestine's siblings—Jane Jones, Gloria King, Cherry King, Diane King, and Charlie King and Aunts Ola Jones and Bobbi Lovings—will carry forward the memories of her indomitable spirit.

Her proudest accomplishments were rooted in the love and strength of her children, exemplifying the notion that family is crafted from a different cloth—a cloth imbued with her values, resilience, and unshakeable faith.

In the remarkable story of Celestine Wilkins, each chapter was infused with color, character, and passion. She will always be remembered for the joy she spread, the lives she touched, and the love she radiated. A viewing will be held on February 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM, culminating in a funeral service at 11:00 AM, all at Lighthouse COGIC, located at 2127 South Corinth Street Road, Dallas, TX 75216.
