Charlene Jewel Bracy was born on Sept 3, 1958 in McCamey, Texas to Marcus Hale Bracy and Ruby Jewell Evans. The second oldest girl of seven siblings, Cha Cha was a natural protector and caretaker. In her childhood, she attended Highland Bunche Church of Christ in Odessa, Texas. In 1976, she graduated from Ector High School and moved to Dallas, Texas which would become her lifelong home along with her sister Thelma Smith, brother in law Larry Dean Smith, and nephew Jason Smith. In 1996, she was blessed with a daughter of her own, Kessha Denise Bracy. While she was like a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews, no one compared to the pride and joy she found within her baby girl. “Cha'' never missed one of Kessha’s practices, games, or performances nor opportunity to tell anyone how proud she was of her. “Cha Cha", as she was lovingly called by all, impacted the lives of so many. In part, by teaching and inspiring them to love and care for others as she demonstrated by her example. Cha worked 32 years for Villa at Mountain View Nursing Home where she continued to share her unselfish and caring spirit as a restorative/nurses’ aid. Cha leaves to mourn: her mother Ruby Jewell Evans/Billie; daughter, Kessha Bracy; eight brothers and sisters, Thelma Smith, Marcus Bracy, Carolyn Moore/Martin, Marie Thomas/Fred, Roger Bracy/Elise, Anthony Johnson/Anita, Elnora Bracy, Margaret Rait); a host of nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family and friends.
