Charleszetta Denise Mingo was born on December 26, 1961, in Akron, Ohio, and passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, at the age of 64.
Denise was known for her intelligence, generosity, and deep love for her family. A dedicated student and natural leader, she graduated as the valedictorian of South High School in Akron, Ohio, Class of 1980, the school’s final graduating class in its history. During her time at South High, Denise was also a high school cheerleader, proudly supporting her school and classmates.
She went on to attend Central State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. While at Central State, Denise became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), forming lifelong sisterhoods and continuing her commitment to service, leadership, and scholarship.
Denise had a giving spirit and found great joy in helping others whenever she could. She treasured time spent with friends and family and especially loved being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were a source of immense pride and happiness, and she cherished every moment she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Charles Mingo and Geraldine Mingo-Springfield; her brothers, Willie Mingo, Charles Mingo, and James Mingo; her sisters, Bertha Fields, Bernice Christian, Sandra Johnson, and Carrie Mingo-Gaines; and her beloved granddaughter, LeiLani Mingo.
Denise leaves to cherish her memory her stepfather, Henry Springfield; her daughter, Brittany Mingo; her sons, Kyle Taylor and Delvon Mingo; her brothers, Eugene Mingo and Edward Mingo; and her cherished grandchildren, Kylie Taylor, Braylen Mingo, Maxwell Mingo, Kaylee Taylor, Brave Mingo, Bella Mingo, and Soesehni Mingo.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will deeply miss her presence and the warmth she brought to their lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Farmers Branch Recreation Center, 14050 Heartside Place, Farmers Branch, TX 75234, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Denise’s life, legacy, and the love she shared with so many.
