Claude Dean Bell Jr., lovingly known as Claude, was born on March 18, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, and departed this life on October 5, 2026, in Dallas, the city that remained his home from beginning to end. His life was marked by devotion, strength, humor, and a deep spiritual foundation that touched all who knew him.
A graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Class of 1971, Claude carried himself with purpose and determination throughout his life. He worked in custodian services and also as a salesman, bringing to each role the steady work ethic and resilience that defined him. He was known as a hard worker, a great provider, and a man whose intelligence and motivation left an impression on others.
Claude lived with a vibrant spirit. He enjoyed Barbequing, fishing, hunting, dancing, singing Aand shopping, and he brought energy wherever he went. His presence was known. He was very giving, caring, and compassionate, yet also stern when needed. He was funny, a true comedian and jokester, with a way of lifting a room and making people feel at ease. Loyal, God-fearing, spiritual, and always willing to help others, he carried himself with conviction and heart. And wherever he went, he was going to be the best dressed.
At the center of Claude’s life was his family. The love he held for them stands among the memories that will endure most deeply. His proudest accomplishment was living his life for Christ, and that faith shaped the way he loved, provided, encouraged, and persevered.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Dorothy Bell, his partner of 34 years. He is also survived by their family: children, Torri Birdwell, Keisha Robinson ( Rick), Latonya Greer, Claude D. Bell III (Ashley), Kayla Brown and Marcus Greer. He also leaves his sisters, Rev. Annette Bell Lary, Rev. Pamela Bell, Nelwyn Bell Darden (Kendrick), Rev. Linda Bell, and Claudia Long; his uncle, Curtis Herrod; and his godchildren, Joshua Greer, Michael Johnson, and Jordin Smith-Broadway. Each of them carries forward the warmth of his love, the strength of his example, and the unmistakable joy of his spirit.
Claude was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Johnson; his father, Claude Dean Bell Sr.; and his brother, Rev. Ronald Dewitt Bell. Their memory remained part of his life’s story, and now they are joined together in eternal peace.
