Curtis Leandrew Benson, born on May 19, 1965, in Dover, Delaware, passed away on September 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.
Curtis will be remembered as a man of faith, warmth, and joyful spirit. He was down to earth, compassionate, caring, and intellectual, with a welcoming way that drew people in. He loved God deeply and cherished his family. Those who knew him also knew his gift for laughter. Curtis was an absolute comedian, someone who could brighten a room and lift hearts with his humor while still speaking sincerely about what mattered most to him.
He worked as a cook, serving others in a practical and meaningful way. Outside of work, Curtis enjoyed dancing and singing, bringing energy and life wherever he went. He found joy in the simple things of life, and that simplicity was part of what made him so genuine and beloved.
A defining part of Curtis’s life was his passion for serving the homeless through street ministry and preaching God’s Word. His witness for the Lord was central to who he was. He carried a message he believed deeply: “Get them to Him” and “Repent and live in love.” Through his compassion and his willingness to meet people where they were, Curtis touched lives with encouragement, faith, and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Davis, and his father, Charles Benson.
Curtis leaves behind a loving family who will hold his memory close: his four sisters, Jacquelyn Brown, Sharon Fields Lair, Michelle Young, and Faith James. In their love for him and in the many memories they shared, his presence will continue to be felt.
Curtis Leandrew Benson will be remembered for his laughter, his caring heart, his love for God, and his devotion to serving others. May his life continue to inspire all who knew him to live with faith, compassion, and love.
