DEAUTRY MURPHY

Jun 27, 1953 — Sep 16, 2026

Deautry Murphy, lovingly known as “Mama D,” passed away on September 16, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on June 27, 1953, in Eufaula, Alabama, and carried through her life a spirit remembered as God-fearing, caring, loving, straightforward, generous, and full of laughter.

Mama D was educated at McCoo High School in Eufaula, Alabama. In her working life, she served as an Activity Director at Williamsburg Village Nursing Home, a role well suited to her warm and giving nature. She was a great cook, someone whose presence brought comfort and joy, and she found happiness in simple and meaningful pleasures: reading God’s Word, working crossword puzzles, watching movies, listening to gospel music, and enjoying musicals and plays.

At the heart of Deautry’s life was her family. Her proudest accomplishment was her children, and her love for her children and grandchildren stands among the memories that will be cherished most deeply by all who knew her. She gave of herself freely, and the strength of that love will continue to live on in the family she nurtured.

She leaves to treasure her memory her children, Darrell Murphy, Tameka Murphy, Steve Murphy, and Stephanie Murphy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kane Murphy, Caleb Murphy, Casidi Murphy, Keyana Hailey, and Carrington Murphy, as well as her great-grandchildren, Yari Murphy and Zakai Murphy. In each generation, her love made its mark, and her family remains a living testament to the care, devotion, and pride she carried throughout her life.

Deautry “Mama D” Murphy will be remembered for her faith, her honesty, her laughter, and the warmth she extended to those around her. Her life was rooted in love, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who called her mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved Mama D.
