DELIA MAXINE SCOTT

July 18, 1944 — January 19, 2025

Delia Maxine Scott, a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication touched the lives of everyone she encountered, passed away on January 19, 2025, in Lancaster, Texas. Born on July 18, 1944, in Meridian, Mississippi, Delia blossomed into a pillar of strength for her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, and a commitment to excellence that will be cherished forever.

For 35 years, Delia dedicated herself to AT&T, followed by an additional decade with Verizon. Her career was not merely a job but a testament to her driven nature and relentless pursuit of success. Colleagues admired her organizational skills, which only complemented her sweet personality and quick wit. Known for her sarcastic humor, Delia could always light up a room, weaving laughter with the fabric of hard work and commitment.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Delia was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and a cherished aunt. She is survived by her loving daughter, Esther Shantel Wright (David), and her two sons, Anthony Scott and Mark Scott. Delia's heart swelled with pride for her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Each moment spent with them was a memory etched into the very essence of her being. Her great joy could be found in attending school performances and celebrating milestones that illuminated their lives.

Delia was more than a career woman; she was a nurturer at her core. Cooking delicious meals brought her bliss, while shopping for the perfect gift or a weekend getaway exemplified her generous spirit. An adventurer at heart, Delia relished cruising and embarking on road trips, each journey refreshing her soul and creating stories that would weave into her family's history.

In her final days, Delia’s essence continued to shine through the love of her sister, Arlena Mosley, and her brother, William C. Naylor, Jr. She lived with an independence that inspired those around her and a desire to give that knew no bounds. Often referred to as “Aunt” by many, she became like a second mother to those fortunate enough to know her warmth.

As we mourn the loss of Delia Maxine Scott, we celebrate the profound impact she made on so many lives. Her memory will resonate through the beautiful stories shared by her family, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the cherished traditions carried on in her honor. Though she may have departed from this earthly realm, her spirit will forever guide us, reminding us to live fiercely, love deeply, and to always find humor in the little things.
