DEMETRI LASHAWN WILSON

April 4, 1977 — November 27, 2025

Demetri Lashawn Wilson, a vibrant soul born on April 4, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, transitioned to rest on November 27, 2025. Her departure has left an indelible mark on the lives she touched, as she was not just a beloved family member but also a beacon of resilience and strength.

Demetri's journey through life was one of determination and hard work. She spent her career as a machinist at Taylor Publishing Company, where her keen intelligence and hardworking spirit shone brightly. With an outgoing personality and a radiant smile that could light up any room, she effortlessly connected with others. Known for her genuine concern for people's well-being, Demetri was a talker who loved to engage in conversations, leaving lasting impressions on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She went to L.G. Pinkston High School but was a proud graduate of Spruce High School where she ran track, Demetri both embraced education and imparted its significance to others. She cherished knowledge and held it close to her heart, believing it was a fundamental asset in life. This passion was evident not only in her professional life but in her devotion to family, particularly her deep love for her grandson, Dominic Washington. She reveled in the joy of spending time with her family, which also included her son, Devin Washington, and daughter, Donnesha Ford. Together with her parents, Juanita Wilson and Edward Earl Hawkins, her brother, Tracy Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, Demetri cultivated innumerable memories filled with laughter and love.

Demetri found joy in simple pleasures: the thrill of slot machines, the art of cooking, the excitement of shopping, and the warmth of family gatherings. These moments reflected her spirited approach to life, as she gracefully juggled her hobbies while always placing her loved ones at the forefront of her endeavors. Her proudest accomplishments included getting her daughter through college and overcoming the circumstances of her childhood, establishing a loving home where her children could flourish.

As we gather to celebrate Demetri’s life, her legacy will live on through the many lives she impacted. A viewing will be held on December 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, followed by a wake service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.

Demetri Lashawn Wilson is survived by her loving family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Preceded in death by her sister, Sonya Wilson, and father, Edward Earl Hawkins, she is now at peace, yet her spirit remains a guiding light for those she cherished. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life richly lived, a testament to love, perseverance, and an ever-present smile.
