Deputy Chief Joe Pierce

February 16, 1952 — November 28, 2022

Chief Joe Andrie Pierce was called to be with the Lord on Monday, November 28, 2022 after a years' long battle with cancer at 70 years old.

Joe Pierce was born to General Sr. and Ann (Harris) Pierce on February 16, 1952 in Lewisville, Arkansas. He was the 5th of 10 siblings. He was a graduate of Henderson State University and started a career with the Dallas Fire Department on September 27, 1976 ultimately achieving the rank of Deputy Chief.

Chief Pierce loved the Dallas Fire Department and everything that it represented. He was so proud to be Chief Pierce and was passionate about helping to prevent fires and educating the citizens of Dallas about fire safety always. He never stopped carrying smoke detectors in his trunk just in case he went to a home that didn’t have one.

He loved working on cars and his RVs. He was always eager to get on the road and go to Arkansas to visit family or anywhere else that he thought may be interesting. Nothing made him happier than getting out there and seeing what the United States had to offer.

Joe Pierce was also a dedicated and loving family man. He was a loving father who always recognized that family comes first. He was someone who could be counted on by all of his family members; No matter the situation or time of day, he loved to lend a helping hand where he could.

He is preceded in death by his siblings Nettye B. Hicks, Dorothy Harper and Artie Furlow. He leaves behind two children, Joseph Daniel Pierce and Karin Elizabeth Pierce, his siblings General (Maureen) Pierce Jr., Fannie Jones, Shirley (Roger) Grigsby, Otis (Meleah) Pierce, Jimmy (Wilisa) Pierce and Shantina (Alton) Ferguson, his special friend Frances J. Epps as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
