Donald G. Artis, a revered husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, and friend, passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 77. His life was characterized by a steadfast commitment to his family and a profound dedication to service in his community.
Born on February 5, 1948, Donald grew up embodying the values of integrity, kindness, and diligence. For over fifty years, he generously devoted his career to law enforcement, serving the communities of Ennis, Texas, Lancaster, Texas, Dallas County Constable Pct #8, #1, and #2, Dallas ISD, and Dallas Methodist Hospital, as well as Tarrant County Constable Pct #8. His work as a Texas Peace Officer was marked by his unwavering commitment to safety and justice, earning him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and the public.
Donald was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his warm and friendly nature. He was a spiritual man whose faith guided his life, allowing him to connect deeply with those around him. His love for his family was unparalleled; he cherished every moment spent with them. With a nurturing spirit, he opened his heart and home as a helpful and caring foster parent for over 20 years, making a tremendous impact on the lives of many children.
His financial consciousness was another testament to his responsible and practical approach to life. Artis wisdom often provided a guiding light for his family and friends, teaching the importance of managing resources thoughtfully.
A wake service to honor Donald's life will be held on June 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. A funeral service will take place the following day, June 5, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 921 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, TX 75224,
