DONALD ELLIOTT STARKES JR

Sep 16, 1948 — Jun 28, 2026

With great tenderness and deepest respect, we remember and celebrate the life of DONALD STARKES, who was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 16, 1948. This city—its warmth, its hope, and its resilient spirit—would be the cradle where Donald’s story began and where, after a life well-lived, it came graciously to rest on June 28, 2026.

From his first days among the sunlit streets of Dallas, Donald became rooted in a community that would know his steady kindness and unassuming strength for nearly eight decades. He was a son of this city in the truest sense—shaped by its vibrant neighborhoods, its ever-changing rhythms, and the bonds woven through generations of families, friends, and neighbors.

Through the passing years, Donald’s life bore testament to perseverance, dignity, and an unwavering devotion to the place he called home. His days were both ordinary and extraordinary. Each held moments of quiet triumph—a warm handshake exchanged with a neighbor, a smile shared in a familiar corner store, a gentle word for someone in need. He moved through life with characteristic humility, bearing joys and burdens alike with grace.

Those who journeyed alongside Donald recall laughter that softened every gathering and compassion that lingered long after he had gone. The constancy of his presence—a dependable friend, a trusted confidant—became a touchstone for those fortunate enough to know him. His impact is inscribed on the hearts he encountered, the hands he helped steady, and the community that shaped him as surely as he gave back to it.

In remembering Donald, one cannot help but conjure images of a steadfast life—a man whose actions spoke as eloquently as any words, whose values endured in the way he lived each day. In every facet, he embodied the enduring spirit of Dallas, drawing from its challenges and triumphs alike, and giving in return a legacy of gentleness, resilience, and hope.

A few of his favorite pastimes were, Fishing, Playing Chess and Domonies.

To honor this remarkable man, a wake will be held on July 15, 2026, from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224. Friends old and new are invited to gather, reflect, and remember the countless ways Donald touched their lives. The celebration of his life and legacy will continue during a funeral service at Church of The Living God, 2610 East Ledbetter Drive, Dallas, TX 75216, on July 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

As we say goodbye, we hold close the memory of Donald’s quiet greatness and carry forward the light he kindled in our community. Though his familiar presence will be missed along the streets of Dallas, the spirit of DONALD STARKES endures—in every memory, every kindness, every gentle echo of his remarkable journey.
