Doris Jean Henderson Kumenda was the oldest of five children born to Sid Lee Henderson Sr. and Gloria (Range) Henderson in Kaufman, Texas. On July 22, 1953 she was a graduate of James Madison High School and later went on to nursing school. She worked in the medical field for over 25 years and retired in 2001. She had a passion for volunteering in her community and helping others who were in need. She became affectionately known as “Mother Doris” to many. Doris enjoy life to the fullest music, dancing, blessing and most of all just hanging out with the family and friends. She was a faithful believer in God and an active member of the churches she attended and never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with an exciting smile and warm embrace. On March 30, 2021, Doris J. Henderson, Kumenda heard the voice of the Lord say “Well Done” my child. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Fred and Lillie Range, beloved parents, Gloria and Sid Henderson Sr.; sisters, Jacqueline and Cynthia; brother, Venson; son, Mark Henderson and daughter Latasha Henderson. Doris leaves to cherish in her passing and celebrate her home going, her son, James Nolan Henderson Celiala; daughter, Lavette Erica Henderson; one brother, Sid Lee Henderson (Yoland); seven grandchildren, Mark, Darrell, Jeffrey, JaMarcus, Andre and Aderion and Adreon great-grandchildren, special nephew, Dunkin Henderson a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and special friends.
