DORIS JEAN YOUNG: A Life of Quiet Grace and Endless Love
Born on July 6, 1944, in Dallas, TX, Doris Jean Young entered this world with a spirit both gentle and enduring. On March 22, 2026, she departed from her earthly journey in her beloved hometown of Dallas, leaving behind a legacy defined not by grandiosity but by the quiet strength of a life devoted to love, family, and faith.
Doris was a homemaker by vocation, a role she embraced with unwavering dedication and profound pride. She was a woman of remarkable character—quiet, reserved, and very sweet—known for her giving nature, deep care, and boundless love. A cornerstone of her life was her unwavering commitment to her family, cherishing the warmth found in family gatherings and treasuring the sacred bonds that tied generations together. She held dear the traditions that shaped her family’s identity and worked tirelessly to ensure they endured through the years.
Her joy was found not only within the walls of her home but also in the simple pleasures of life. Doris delighted in soap operas, shopping excursions, and the art of decorating homes, especially when the holidays painted the seasons with brightness and celebration. Her heartbeat strongly for her church family, she loved making breakfast for her Sunday School class, where she found community, solace, and spiritual renewal.
She proudly counted among her greatest accomplishments the raising of her four beloved daughters.
She received serenity in reading her favorite scripture Isaiah 40:31.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Wesley Young, her parents, Lorenzo and Savara Quarles, and her four cherished sisters: Sadie, Earnestine, Bobbie, and Jearline and one brother, Lorenzo Quarles Jr. Though these loved ones have passed beyond sight, their legacy lives on vividly in the hearts of those who knew Doris. Doris’s education began at James Madison High School.
Among those who remain privileged to carry her memory forward are not only her four daughters, —Chanthania Bonds, Yolanda Edwards (Chris), Amanda Young, and Margaret Young—guiding them with a gentle hand and a steadfast heart, but also her grandchildren—Devonci Quarles, Laquinti Huntsberry (Rita), Narquila Pinkard (Aaron), Alfred Bonds, Jr, Darrius Young (Sheresa), Trikeashia Young, and Shaquila Young, (special friend Jessica), Tatyana Gaines, Kristal Edwards, and Eric Edwards. Through them blossomed twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, each a living testament to Doris’s nurturing spirit and enduring love. The family’s embrace extends further to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends forever touched by her kindness.
The days to come will offer an opportunity for all who loved Doris to gather and honor her life:
