Dorothy’s Life Story
Dorothy Nell Daughtery Brooks was born on September 30, 1954 in Stamford, Texas to the parentage Clemmie and Ruby Asberry Daughtery.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Bethel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the Late Elder W.W. Fields. She attended Abilene Public Schools graduating from Cooper High School. She served in the U.S. Army Reserve. She then went on to graduate from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and upon graduating she went to work with Pinkston’s Mortuary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dorothy married Edgar Brooks and to this union a son was born, Mosi Brooks. Dorothy was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where she retired after 30 years of service.
Dorothy went from labor to reward on June 2, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas at a local hospital.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both parents and brother, Clemmie Lee.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories; son, Mosi Brooks (April) of Abilene, Texas; special companion, Michael Dennis of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Linda Davis of Arlington, Texas, Patricia McLean of Fort Worth, Texas, Sharon Skyler (Larry) of Lancaster, Texas, Barbara Wilson (Gene) of Columbia, S.C., Jeanette Carter of Austin, Texas, Gloria Stanchel of Austin, Texas; brother, Christopher Daughtery (Jorita) of Abilene, Texas; a special niece, Lynn Hagins of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
