DOROTHY NELL JONES

Dorothy Nell Jones was born in Morris County,Texas, to Thomas Ivee and Dollie Holloman. The eldest of six children, she married James Cecil Jones in May 1960, and together they raised three children: Edwin, Thomas, and Teena.

Dorothy worked over 20 years at Western Electric, co-owned the family restaurant Dorcee’s, and briefly attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

Stylish to her core, Dorothy was known for her love of high heels — wearing them every day, well into her seventies. She never owned a pair of flats or house shoes, and even her walks were done in heels. She was full of grace, laughter, and strength.

A devoted wife, mother, and extraordinary cook, she poured love into everything she did. She adored Johnny Taylor and could fill a home with music, food, and warmth. Dorothy lived a beautiful life and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
