Eliza Runnels was born on September 16, 1932 to the parentage of Burlie and Willie Runnels. Eliza married Peter James Swanson on August 30, 1952 and from this union, seven children were born.
Eliza was a loving and caring lady. She cherished her family and enjoyed all the family get-togethers. She lived for her children. She loved meeting and greeting people from the Como Community at our family owned, Swanson's Diner (The Dip). She was quick to feed and take care of the less fortunate that came her way. Her gentle and loving spirit is reflected in the caring words of all patrons who would simply refer to her as "Momma Swanson." In her life, she accumulated little, that is simply because she gave away soo much.
She was a praying lady who loved the Lord, loved singing gospel songs and listening to them. Eliza united with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Flint, TX at an early age. After moving to Fort Worth, she later united with Como First Baptist Church, Fort Worth, TX. She made sure that all of her boys attended every church activity as children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Burlie and Willie Runnels, sisters Myletha Tucker, Earma Ruth Caddell, and one brother, Willie Lee Runnels. She is cherished in memory by her children, Major (Mae), Tommy, Billy, Dennis, Kenneth (Regina), and Vanessa; one sister, Bertha Mae Pinson, and one brother, Herbert Runnels (Isabella); eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
