Ernestine Purvey

Ernestine Purvey, lovingly known as “Chief,” passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on August 12, 1945, Ernestine moved through life with a caring spirit, a great heart, and a loving way that left a lasting impression on those around her. She was the kind of person whose presence brought warmth, whose nature reflected generosity, and whose heart made room for others again and again.

She found joy in simple and enduring pleasures. Ernestine enjoyed playing dominoes and playing spades, pastimes that so often bring people together in laughter, conversation, and friendly competition. She also carried the memory of playing basketball in high school, a chapter of her life that spoke to her energy and spirit.

Those who knew Ernestine knew a woman remembered not only by the things she enjoyed, but by the love she gave. Her nickname, “Chief,” carried its own affection and familiarity, a reflection of the place she held in the lives of others. She will be remembered for her loving nature, for the care she showed, and for the heart that defined her.

A funeral service for Ernestine Purvey will be held on September 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home - Ft. Worth, 5701 East Loop 820 South, Fort Worth, TX 76119.
