Born on February 4, 1962, in Scott, Mississippi, Ervin’s journey was uniquely his own from the very beginning: quiet yet profound, humorous yet reserved—a man whose presence spoke volumes without many words.

Raised in Mississippi, Ervin attended Nugent Center High School in Benoit, Mississippi where he first discovered his love for music, playing trombone in the high school band. This early chapter hinted at his lifelong appreciation for life’s simple joys, and those who knew him recall his infectious sense of humor and gentle spirit brightening every room he entered.

A proud member of the Texas National Guard, where he was honorably discharged, Ervin exemplified dedication and humility in service to his country. He later embarked on a meaningful career as a security officer, carrying his innate reliability, calm demeanor, and unwavering commitment to integrity into every aspect of his work. His colleagues and those around him admired him not just for his professionalism, but for the steadiness of his heart—a man who never raised his voice, never argued, and never complained, no matter what life set before him.

Ervin’s life was built around his abiding love for his family. He found his greatest joy in sharing life’s moments with his beloved wife, Karen Ellsworth, and his cherished daughters, Courtney Ellsworth and Montoya Jackson. To his sisters—Elire Clark Flake and Bobbie Jean Norman—and his brother Wilson Clark, Ervin was the thoughtful sibling who could be counted on for quiet support and laughter, for dancing unreservedly when the mood struck, and for reminding everyone of the importance of loyalty and love.

In quieter moments, Ervin delighted in shooting pool, shooting at the gun range, watching sports and westerns, cooking and grilling —his kitchen and backyard was the setting for countless memorable gatherings and mouth-watering meals. Those who dined at his table will forever remember the warmth with which he welcomed all, his food seasoned with authentic care and heartfelt connection.

To his friends, Ervin was a steady and treasured presence, embodying deep affection for those close to him and inspiring a sense of belonging. He was unyieldingly true to himself—a little set in his ways, perhaps, but always profoundly kind-hearted, embracing life on terms uniquely his own and never allowing anyone or anything to disrupt his peace.

Though preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rosie Lee Clark; his father, Elmer Lee Ellsworth; his sisters, Francis Jean Norman and Annie Lee Flowers; Baby Norman and Baby Ellsworth; and his grandmother, Willie Jackson, Ervin’s spirit remains ever-present, carried onward by the family and friends who loved him so deeply.

Those who survive him—his wife Karen; daughters Courtney and Montoya; sisters Elire Clark Flake and Bobbie Jean Norman; brother Wilson Clark; a special cousin, Wilbert "Tommy" Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends—will forever cherish the lessons he shared and the memories he leaves behind: his humor, his steadfastness, and above all, his unshakeable love.

A viewing for Ervin Lee Ellsworth will be held on August 14, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224. Funeral services will follow on August 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the same location.
