FLOYD HERBERT CLARK

Floyd Herbert Clark, the third son of A.C. Clark Jr. and Robbie Ree Malone Clark, was born on July 13, 1942. He accepted Christ during his formative years at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wellborn, Texas, under the leadership of Reverend G.W. Williams.

Floyd attended Lincoln High School in College Station, Texas, where he graduated with the class of 1960. Floyd was an integral part of his school’s State Championship basketball team. He attended Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas. On March 26, 1964, Floyd was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam war. He received an honorable discharge on March 23, 1966. After completing his military service, he went on to work for Southern Pacific Railroad and later for Union Pacific Railroad, ultimately retiring in 2002. Floyd was a dedicated member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, for 29 years under the leadership of Reverend Hayward Wiggins and another 27 years under Reverend Dennis Jones. He was a deacon for 36 years and was involved in the brotherhood ministry. Additionally, Floyd was a lifetime member of East Gate Lodge #329 in Houston, Texas, where he was respectfully known as “Brother Clark.” 

He was preceded in death by his son Floyd Clark, Jr.; his parents, A.C. Clark, Jr. and Robbie Ree Malone Clark; his sister Lillian Clark Robinson; his brothers, Elbert Marion Clark, Richard “Dick” Clark, and Robert Earl Clark, and his first wife, Mattie Jewel Jones Clark.

Cherishing his precious memories are his wife, Jacquettia Watson Clark of Fort Worth, Texas; his stepson Larry Donell Jones (Cynthia) of Kathy, Texas; his stepdaughter Doris Ann Jones Pennright (Cecil) of Houston, Texas; his brothers Albert Clifton Clark (Mary) and Reverend A.C. Clark, III (Betty), both of College Station, Texas; Reverend Leroy Darnell Clark (Arlene) of Fres no, Texas; and Reverend Marion Otis Clark (Diane) of Sugar Land, Texas.

He is also remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved relatives and friends.
