Frances was a proud graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Class of 1979, and went on to earn her associate degree from El Centro College. She devoted much of her working life to public service, serving as a probation officer with Dallas County Adult Probation. After 29 years of dedicated work, she retired in 2012, leaving behind a long career marked by commitment and care for others.
At the center of Frances’s life was her family. She was deeply family-oriented and was regarded as the matriarch of the family, leading by the example of love, compassion, and spiritual guidance. Sweet, loving, caring, loyal, and generous, Frances gave of herself freely. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she was a faithful member of Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church.
She also found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Frances loved traveling, hosting family gatherings, and watching crime television. The time she spent bringing loved ones together created lasting memories and reflected the warmth that defined her home and her heart. Among all her blessings and accomplishments, her daughter was her proudest.
Frances leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Shaquala Lee. She is also survived by her four sisters, Gloria Hurd, Jessie Banks, Kimberly Hickmon, and Karla Harris, whose bond as sisters remained an important part of her life. She is lovingly remembered as well by her special cousin, Debra Tennsion, and by her special friend, Victor Hood. Each of them carries forward the love, guidance, and kindness Frances shared so freely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rickie Lee; her mother, Emma Hickmon; her father, Wills Hickmon; her sister, Jacqueline Hickmon; and her two brothers, Wills Hickmn, Jr and Anthony Hickmon.
Frances Ann Hickmon-Lee’s life was a blessing to those who knew her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, her unwavering loyalty, her generous heart, and the way she held her family together with love and faith. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who were blessed to share in her life.
