REV. FREDDIE MCCLINTON CHEATHAM, affectionately known as "Clint," was born on April 1, 1934, in Hughes Springs, Cass County, Texas. He was a devoted member of his community until his passing on August 24, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Clint was a multifaceted man whose life was marked by a deep commitment to his family, faith, and service.
An accomplished pastor, he dedicated himself to guiding and uplifting his congregation with unwavering faith and compassion. Alongside his pastoral duties, Clint also worked as a machinist and served as a foreman for the school district, showcasing his diverse skill set and strong work ethic. His education began in his hometown of Cass County, where the foundation of his character was built.
Clint's passion for life extended beyond his career. He was known for his joyful spirit, always greeting others with a smile. He cherished playing basketball, volleyball, and softball with his children and grandchildren, creating unforgettable moments filled with laughter and love. His legacy lives on in these fond memories shared by his family.
In addition to his family activities, Clint was a gifted gospel quartet singer, sharing his musical talents with The Spiritual Aires of Dallas, TX, and the Friendship Gospel Singers. Music was a vital part of his life, allowing him to express his faith and connect with others on a deeper level.
Rev. Cheatham leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his beloved spouse, Iola Cheatham, and a large family that includes 9 children and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he instilled values of kindness, generosity, and joy in those fortunate enough to know him.
A Prayer Service to honor the life of REV. FREDDIE MCCLINTON CHEATHAM will be held on August 29, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas (Allene) located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224.
Clint’s warmth and light will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life.
