GLENDA PULLIN

Glenda Phillips was a loving wife, nurturing mother, adoring grandmother, fantastic cook and wonderful friend to all who crossed her path. She valiantly battled COPD and End Stage Renal Disease for over 5 years and left this world very early in the morning on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at age 77.

Glenda was the only child to Joe Ben and Chester Balous Phillips and was born on December 27, 1943 in Fort Worth, TX. Right before Glenda was born, her mom thought something she ate for Christmas was causing stomach cramps and not her new baby girl coming to the world.

As a child, Glenda and her parents were members of Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX for many years. After graduating from I.M. Terrell High School in 1962, she went on to study Sociology at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. While there, she and her roommates formed a music group and sang at events around campus.

Glenda worked for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission before leaving to cook in her parent’s restaurant, Phillips Eat Shop. She worked there until she retired. It was there that Glenda met her future husband Sherman Pullin. A friend of Sherman’s told him about the great food at Phillips and invited him there to eat. Sherman met Glenda and the rest is history. They were married in 1998 and have been together for over 30 years.

In December 2018, from her bedside, Glenda joined Greater North Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Glenda loved cooking, spending time in the kitchen and feeding her family and friends. Her chicken and dumplings were divine and her dressing was legendary.

Glenda leaves behind her very devoted husband Sherman; dutiful daughter and best friend Jo (Amir) Krummell; doting step-daughter Cherrina Clark; three grandchildren, Hudson Krummell, Quashun Baker and Charles Jackson; 2 great grandchildren, Bailey and Zoey Baker, all of Fort Worth, TX; and a host of aunts, uncles, first, second and third cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
