GLORIA BONNER

Gloria Annelle Bonner was born in Longview, TX to James Edward Tippett, Sr. and Thelma Juanita Greene on November 9, 1933. She was the middle child of 3 children. Gloria attended Longview Colored High School and graduated with honors at the age of 15 in 1949. She then matriculated through Prairie View A&M University and graduated in 1953, obtaining a major in mathematics and minoring in French.

Gloria and Edmond Bonner, Sr. united in Holy Matrimony in 1955. From this union their children Edmond Bonner, Jr., Reginald Bonner, Sr., Detra Renee Bonner and Derek Bonner, Sr. were born.

Gloria was a high school math instructor in Long View, TX and at various high schools in Fort Worth, Texas including Dunbar, I.M. Terrell, Kirkpatrick and Eastern Hills for almost 34 years before suffering a stroke in 1986 encouraging her early retirement and ending the pursuit of her Master’s degree.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Dana Tigner, her husband; Edmond Bonner, Sr., and grandson; Edmond Bonner, III.

The Lord called Gloria to celebrate her Heavenly Homecoming on Friday June 26, 2020. Left to honor her life and legacy are her children: Edmond Bonner, Jr., Reginald Bonner, Sr. (Latryl), Detra Bonner Barrett and Derek Bonner, Sr.; her brother: James E. Tippett, Jr.(Jerl); Carolyn Washington; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a plethora of cherished nieces, nephews and dear relatives and friends.
