GWENDOLYN GARRETT

GWENDOLYN GARRETT, a beloved member of the Dallas community and a cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Red Oak, Texas. Born on September 25, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, Gwendolyn lived a life characterized by unwavering strength, heartfelt dedication to family, and an enduring commitment to her community.

As the eldest of seven siblings, Gwendolyn embodied leadership and tenacity from a young age. She raised four generations with profound love and care, creating a legacy of close-knit family bonds that will be treasured for years to come. Known for her no-nonsense approach and profound honesty, she was a woman who meant what she said and said what she meant—a trait that earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew her.

Gwendolyn’s professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. She dedicated many years serving as a crossing guard within the school system, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children each day. She also worked in the high-tech industry, demonstrating versatility and a keen adaptability to the evolving world around her.

Family was at the heart of Gwendolyn’s world. She especially loved her grandchildren and opened her home as a daycare for family members, providing a nurturing environment filled with love and warmth. Her home was known as a haven where everyone was welcome, and her renowned cooking skills brought joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to experience her meals. Travel also brought great happiness to Gwendolyn, as she delighted in exploring new places and creating memories with loved ones.

Her greatest inspiration and hero was her grandfather, whose influence profoundly shaped the woman she became. Gwendolyn’s life was marked by resilience, generosity, and a strong will to uplift those around her.

 A visitation will be held will be held on Friday, June 6, 2026 starting at 12 noon.   A funeral service honoring Gwendolyn Garrett life will be held on June 6, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at New Creation Fellowship COGIC located at 7340 S. Hampton Road in Dallas, Texas. 

Gwendolyn Garrett leaves behind a lasting imprint on her family and community through her profound love, indefatigable spirit, and heartfelt devotion. May her memory be a blessing to all who were privileged to know her.
