Elder Harold Wayne Taylor

Apr 11, 1945 — Aug 31, 2026

Mr. Harold Wayne Taylor departed this earthly life in his home, surrounded by family, loved ones and friends on August 31, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Harold was born April 11, 1945, in Marshall’s Corner/La Plata, MD, to Charles & Edith Viola Waters Taylor.

He attended schools in Charles County School Systems and was a graduate of Pomonkey High School Class of 1964 and has always maintained a love for accounting and learning. Harold served in the United States Army between 1965 and 1967. More than half of his enlistment included the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. Other assignments included Ft Gordon, Ft Leonard and Ft Bragg. He was honorably discharged after accelerating to the rank of E-4. He became gainfully employed by the Federal Bureau of Printing & Engraving (BPE) in Washington DC as a Plate Printer from May 5, 1969, until 1991. He accepted a transfer and was relocated to the newly established BPE in Fort Worth, TX, April 1991, where he retired December 1998.

Harold was passionate about NFL football and was known to maintain and recall stats for many players, especially for his favorite team, the LA Rams NFL Football Team. During the 70’s he became a fan of the Seattle Supersonics NBA Basketball Team. When the Supersonics relocated to Oklahoma in 2008, they became the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Basketball Team, and he continued to follow them.

His favorite hobby was gardening vegetables. Before declining health, you could find him planting and maintaining gardens wherever he found ground and took pride in sharing whatever he harvested. He also loved classic cars and enjoyed restoring his favorite, blue, 1968, T-Top Chevrolet Corvette, previously owned by his brother Rodney.

Harold has always had a love for Jesus and the church, where he generously and faithfully shared his talents and treasure. He gave his life to Jesus and was baptized in 1984 at Bible Way Pentecostal Church (Bishop Smallwood E.

Williams) in Washington D.C. He later began attending and joined Morningstar Church also in Washington D.C (Bishop Johnson). He loved and studied the Word of God and had a vivid recall of bible scriptures. After his transfer to Fort Wort, TX, he joined Bethel Tabernacle Church (Bishop Robert Etheridge) and later joined Chosen Vessel (Bishop Richard E. Young). Upon relocating to Spokane, WA he became a member of Holy Temple COGIC (Auxiliary Bishop E.D. Kinlow) and later joined Corner Stone Pentecostal Church (Pastor Rick Mayo). Upon relocating back to Fort Worth, TX in 2023 he re-joined The Chosen Vessel Church (Bishop Marvin L. Sapp). He served faithfully in each of his assignments until his declining health. His favorite songs were; “My Soul Has Been Anchored,” by Douglas Miller and “Praise is What I Do,” By Shekinah Glory. Either of these songs perked his spirit with singing and brought him to his feet!!!

Harold was preceded in death by seven brothers: Joseph Jerome, Wilbert Thaddeus, Donald Fabien, Emerson Waldo, Charles Rodney, Royce Gregory, and Winfield. Three sisters: Dorothy Elaine, Sadonia Ann, and Juasita Evangeline.
