Henry Bush, a devoted family man, beloved father, and treasured member of the community, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on November 4, 1956, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, Henry lived a life rich with dedication, passion, and faith.
Henry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful Baptist throughout his life. Raised in Monroe, Louisiana, he completed his primary and secondary education in Ouachita Parish, graduating from Carroll High School’s Class of 1976, home of the mighty Bulldogs. His remarkable talent on the football field earned him a scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University, where he played quarterback. Following college, Henry pursued his athletic aspirations, joining the practice squad for the Los Angeles Raiders and moving to Los Angeles, California.
After his time with the Raiders, Henry embraced a new career path that brought him great fulfillment: over-the-road truck driving. For more than 30 years, he traversed the highways with dedication and pride. He eventually settled in Carrollton, Texas, where he spent the majority of his adult life, and later found peace and joy living on his ranch in Sherman, Texas.
Henry was a man who cherished the simple pleasures life had to offer. He found happiness in riding horses, working out, fishing, and traveling. Most profoundly, he loved and cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. His warmth, kindness, and strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Henry was the cherished "baby boy" of the late Dorothy Mae Blockwood and Henry Baker, whose memories he honored throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Mae Blockwood and Henry Baker; his grandparents, Hosea and Mary Garner; his brother, Elbert Bush; and his sister, Linda Faye Bush Rayford.
He leaves behind a strong legacy of love and perseverance to his surviving family: his three devoted sons, Carlos Barber of Dallas, John Henry Bush, and Henry Bush; his sister, Betty Houston; his brother, Allen Bush; and a host of nieces and nephews who held him dearly in their hearts.
A visitation will be held on March 22, 2026, at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location, 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75224.
Henry Bush’s life was a testament to faith, endurance, and love—a profound journey marked by accomplishments on and off the field, and a heart forever tied to his family and community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
