Horace P. Lincoln Jr., affectionately known as “Jabo,” passed away on November 4, 2026, in Dallas. He was born on June 8, 1937, in Cass County, and his life carried the steady imprint of warmth, humor, skill, and devotion to those he loved.
Raised in East Texas, Horace later moved to Dallas at the age of 18, building a life marked by hard work and dependable care for others. He was baptized in the Church of Christ under Bro. Lovette Johnson, and remained at Cedar Valley until his illness, that beginning remained part of the foundation of the man he became. He was the owner of Lincoln Automotive Service, a role that reflected both his industrious spirit and his gift for working with his hands. He later retired from Fed-Ex as a package handler.
Horace was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed tinkering, photography, videography, and locksmith work, always drawn to detail and the satisfaction of making things work just right. He also found pleasure in watching westerns and action movies. Those who knew him will remember a man who was positive and bubbly, funny, and exacting in the details that mattered to him. He was a great provider, loving and patient, and carried himself with unmistakable style as a snappy dresser.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Catherine Lincoln, Queen Lincoln, Horace Lincoln, Beverly Piggee, Michelle Lincoln Mason (Phillip), Tracy Lincoln and Phillip Todd Lincoln. Horace is further survived by his sisters, Soretta Lincoln Hunt (Darrel), and Valorett Lincoln, as well as his brothers Ralph Kerwin Lincoln, John Phillip Lincoln, and Robert Earl Banks. The love of his family stands as part of the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Quley B Banks, and his father, Horace Lincoln Sr. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Ozena Banks-Sasser, Otis Banks, S.B. Banks, Oscar Banks, Roy Lee Mitchell, Felicia Lincoln and Theressa Lincoln Johnson.
Horace’s life was one of presence and personality—a life that made room for laughter, care, craftsmanship, and family. He will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who had the blessing of knowing him. He leaves to cherish his grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
