Throughout his spiritual journey, Horthy was known as a prayer warrior and a man of few but powerful words—always saying what he meant and meaning what he said. His faith was not just a personal anchor but a guiding force in his daily life. He was a devoted deacon at Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was actively serving as a deacon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
Mr. Johnson’s kindness and compassionate heart were evident to all who knew him. He took care of business with quiet integrity and strength, making him a pillar of support in his community. Beyond his spiritual leadership, he was a cherished husband, having married his high school sweetheart over 54 years ago—a loving partnership that inspired those around them.
As a father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and devoted friend, Horthy Lee Johnson leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and congregation, who all held him in the highest esteem.
The family will receive visitors for a viewing on June 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. A wake service will follow at the same venue beginning from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 4791 South Buckner Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75227, where family, friends, and members of the church community will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his extraordinary life.
