HOSEA GARDNER JR, a man whose life rhythm pulsed with generosity, humor, and unyielding straightforwardness, left this world on March 22, 2026, in Lancaster, TX. Born on May 9, 1951, in Dallas, TX, Hosea’s journey was one marked by a vibrant spirit and a legacy that resonates deeply with those who knew him.
A proud graduate of L.G. Pinkston and Texas University, Hosea carved himself a distinctive place in telecommunications, a career path that mirrored his connection to communication and the ways he touched lives. Yet, his passions extended far beyond professional achievements—he loved music, dancing, and the lively strategy of dominoes. In these joys, he found a refuge and a way to share his laughter and warmth, making every gathering a memorable celebration of life.
Hosea was known for his good heart and generosity, always a giver eager to share what he had with others. His charm and humor were unforgettable; he was a man who could make even the most complex truths simple and real, never shying away from being candid. His philandering ways added a complicated yet vivid layer to his character, reminding us that human stories are intricate and full of contradictions.
Among his proudest accomplishments was breaking barriers as the first African American to record a tornado in Wichita Falls, TX—a feat symbolizing his courage and pioneering spirit. Most cherished, however, were his sons, to whom he passed down strength and pride: Devon Gardner, Keith Bell, Garnezer Gardner, Deonte Gardner, and Deontre Gardner. These sons were his heart’s living legacy, a source of immense pride that shaped much of his life's purpose.
Hosea's family circle also included his sister Debra Gardner, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who continue to carry forward his memory and spirit. The losses he faced extended deeply into his heart with the passing of his beloved wife, Sandra Calicoattee, and his sister, Flo Davis—souls who shared chapters of his story and whose absence marks a profound silence.
The community is invited to honor Hosea's life and spirit at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy in Dallas, TX 75224. A viewing will take place on April 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed immediately by a prayer service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The celebration of his life will continue on April 10, 2026, with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In remembering Hosea Gardner Jr, we embrace the fullness of a life lived with passion, complexity, and undeniable impact—a man who danced to his own beat, loved fiercely, and left an indelible mark on the world around him.
