IDA BURTON MCGILVERY WARREN

December 30, 1933 — May 6, 2024

Ida Burton was born on December 30, 1933 in the home of Ed Burton and Frankie Mae Burton in Nevada, Texas. 

 She attended public school in Denison, Texas and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas. She was joined in matrimony to Earnest McGilvery. To this union eight children were born and two sons Elroy and Jessie, who preceded her in the death along with her grandsons Ernest Anderson and Xzavier Jackson. 

 She was called to a ministry of tarrying in prayer and fasting. Ida labored alongside of her predeceased ex-husband as he became called to Pastor a church. 

 They organized in the home of the late Mother Janie Blunt, and the late Mother Alice Johnson on Leuda St. in Fort Worth. They named the church Prayer Tower Church of God In Christ and opened at 1313 Marion Street. 

 They then served with his dear friend elder Carl Cornelius Jr., at the Joy Ground Tabernacle Church of God In Christ. As well as The Progressive District of the Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the Late Supt. G.W. Pope.

 Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23, "The Lord is My Shepherd."

 Left to cherish her memory are three sons and three daughters: Frank McGilvery, Edsel McGilvery and Elder Alvin McGilvery, Dr. Earnestine McGilvery-Goldsby., Ida Smith and Dr. Junliah McGilvery, 33 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, 27 great great grandchildren, 4 great great great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
