Iris Jean Fears was born on September 4, 1953 in Fairmount, North Carolina to the late Robert Nelson Sr. and Clarice Lockhart. On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called His servant home to eternal rest in Lancaster, Texas.
Iris was a woman of faith who lived who lived a life of quiet strength, dignity, and unwavering love. Iris graduated from Fairmont High School, relocated to Charlotte NC, and later to Dallas Texas. She faithfully worked in the Medical Claims industry for over 25 years, where she was known for her integrity, diligence, and strong work ethic. Her professional life reflected the values she earned in her walk with the Lord.
Travel and family were at the heart of Iris's life. She loved reading and cherished family gatherings, where fellowship, laughter, and love filled the room. She was a steady presence, a listening ear, and a source of wisdom and encouragement to those she loved.
Iris was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Charles Fears where as faithful members of the New Friendship Church of Lancaster, TX under the leadership of Pastor Michael D. Peters for many years serving in multiple ministries until her transition. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Hubert and Nelson Faulk. She was a loving grandmother to Dre',Jamal, Nakira, Treasure, McKinsley, and a cherished great-grandmother to Joy.
Iris was blessed to be one of many siblings and shared lifelong bonds with Robert Nelson Lockhart Jr., Dan Lockhart, Benjamin F. Lockhart, Louiza, Lottie Lockhart, Barbara Rivers, Fannie Caldwell, and Linda Alsbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Sr., Clarice Lockhart, and others who have gone on before her.

Iris Jean Fears leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, faith and perseverance. She exemplified grace in her walk, steadfastness in her faith, and unconditional love for her family. Her life was a testimony of endurance, devotion and quiet strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband, Charles Fears; her sons, Hubert and Nelson Faulk; her grandchildren and great grandchild; her siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, extended family members and friends.
