Jake Diggs, Jr., was born on March 03, 1955, to the parents of J. T. (Jake) Diggs, Jr. and Dorothy Diggs, in Dallas, Texas at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He peacefully transitioned into the Lord’s arms on September 25, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Jake graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1973, and he immediately enlisted into the United States Army and served as a Radio Technology Specialist. After the Army, he continued his education at Mountain View College, where he earned a Business Management Degree. He went on to build a successful career as a Commercial & Professional Truck Driver for more than 40 years for General Motors, Lockheed Martin & Universal Trucklines.
As a young man, Jake joined Evening Chapel AME Church with his family and was baptized at an early age. He served on the Usher Board, YPD and was a member of the Youth Choir.
Jake was known for his warm smile that could light up any room. He loved spending time with family and friends and created lasting memories with everyone he met.
Jake was a hardworking, strong and resilient man who exemplified perseverance through life’s challenges. No matter what he was facing, he never gave up. Even on difficult days, he would greet you with this signature smile and reassure you that he was okay, a reflection of his strength, faith, and selfless spirit.
Jake was proceeded in death by his parents, J. T. (Jake) Diggs, Jr. & Dorothy Diggs. His Grandparents, Mr. J. T. Diggs, Sr., Papa Fee
Harrison & Marjorie Harrison, Brother, Jackie Johnson and his uncle, Benjamin Diggs.
Those left to cherish his memory: Siblings, Walter Johnson, Sharon Hammons, Priscilla Brooks, Steve Johnson, Michael Diggs, and Linda K. Diggs-Egbuonu. He leaves behind a host of Nieces, Nephews, & Great Nieces & Nephews.
Daughters, Nikki Green, and Breanna Lyvoone Diggs. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Ja’Meara Mills, Tameara Mills, Kevin Thompson, Jr., Asya-Merie Thompson, Kendricc Thompson, Aaliyah-Monae Thompson, King Thompson, and Micah Diggs. Two great-grandchildren, and his One Hundred & One year old, Auntie, Ora Nixon-McFail.
He also leaves behind a host of cousins and close friends.
