JAMES COLLINS

James Collins, lovingly known as “Foofer,” passed away on September 1, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on September 23, 1977, in New York, New York, and will be remembered as a man whose spirit brought warmth, laughter, and generosity wherever he went.

James was educated at George Wingate High School in Brooklyn, New York, and continued his studies at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. His educational journey stood as a point of deep pride, as he was the first in his family to make it to college. He also received many awards and honors in basketball, reflecting both his talent and his determination. Alongside these accomplishments, he built a life marked by hard work and commitment, taking pride in having a great job and in all that he was able to achieve.

Those who knew James knew a man who was always happy, funny, and outgoing. He loved to make others laugh and was always willing to help. He was a hard worker, a great friend, and a caring and generous presence in the lives of many. His love for basketball, listening to music, and traveling brought him joy, but nothing meant more to him than his love for his family. That love remains one of the most cherished memories he leaves behind.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Collins; his daughter, Aliyah Douglas; his brother, Alfred Collins, Jr; and his cousin, Zainab Wai. In their lives, and in the hearts of all who knew him, James leaves a lasting imprint of kindness, humor, and devotion.

James Collins will be remembered for the happiness he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will continue to live on in the family he cherished and in the many lives made brighter by his presence.
