JARMAINE BARRAS

October 5, 1977 — August 26, 2025

Jarmaine Tarrase Barras, age 47, of Dallas, Texas, entered eternal rest on August 26, 2025. He was born on October 5, 1977, in New Orleans, Louisiana. However, Jarmaine spent the last 15 years of his life in Dallas, Texas, where he continued to bless all who crossed his path.

Jarmaine was a truly lovable spirit, who graced our lives with his radiating smile, infectious laughter, and caring nature. He was a beacon of love, and kindness which endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His loving heart and gentle nature touched the lives of so many family & friends, leaving a lasting impact on many. He had such a caring demeanor which created ripples of compassion that will forever remain in our memories.

Jarmaine was a devoted son to his mother Deanka Barras Davis (Jerry), his father Robert Lindsey, and a loving brother to his sister Sophia Barras. He was a longtime companion to his former wife Chameka Barras. Jarmaine was cherished by his new companion Tisha Godfrey, his nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Jarmaine was a graduate of The Men of Nehemiah of Dallas, Texas, and he embrace their mission of recovery. Later he became a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas, under the leadership of Rev. Chris Simmons. There Jarmaine served humbly in the Security Ministry. His faith and his testimony were central to who he was. He never hesitated to share his story in hopes of encouraging others and pointing them toward God’s grace.

Gifted in many ways, Jarmaine was a hard & diligent worker and had developed many skills. He even tried his hand at welding. Jarmaine had a natural eye for fashion and interior design, a talent for sewing, and a love for home improvement projects. But above all, his true calling was serving people. He gave generously of his time, resources, and heart - whether sitting with the elderly in need of company, donating clothes and essentials to the needy, helping someone move, or simply offering words of encouragement. He showed up for everybody, every single time. He cared so deeply, and he never hesitated to show it. Jarmaine was proud of the work he did, and he lived with open-hearted generosity.

Through every challenge he faced, Jarmaine remained a beacon of light. His unwavering positivity, his transparency, and his deep compassion made him a true gift to this world. One of his shared statements was ‘Staying the course and keeping your focus on Jesus, even when it gets hard…’. A message of hope and forgiveness. His legacy is one of giving, sharing, helping, and loving without hesitation or condition.

Jarmaine will be remembered as a light - steady and selfless - shining day and night, with good intention and great love.
