Jewel Lee Moore, a radiant spirit born on December 24, 1947, in the heart of Shreveport, LA, embraced life with an exuberance that was truly her own. Tragically, she departed this worldly stage on May 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the echo of her favorite dance – the Atomic Dog Dance – which she performed with the kind of joy that could light up even the darkest of rooms.
Jewel was a force of nature, marked not only by her magnetic personality but also by her boundless love for those around her. She possessed an outgoing essence that drew people in, her heartfelt laughter a symphony of warmth and comfort. Jewel was known for speaking her mind with candor and conviction, her words often imbued with the wisdom that comes from a life well-lived.
Among her most cherished memories are the moments spent cooking up delicious meals for her family, casting lines into the waters while fishing, and rallying alongside fellow aficionados to cheer for her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Jewel derived immense joy from these simple pleasures, each experience woven into the rich tapestry of her life.
As a devoted mother, her proudest accomplishments remained her children and grandchildren, who stood as a testament to her nurturing spirit and unwavering support. Jewel poured her heart into raising her daughters, Darlene Scott and Tammie Miller, and instilled in them the values that would guide them through their own journeys. Each grandchild and great-grandchild carried a piece of her spirit, imbuing their lives with the love she so freely shared.
While Jewel's vibrant life brought joy to many, her heart bore the ache of loss; she mourned the passing of her son, Kelvin Moore, whose memory she held dearly. The bond they shared transcended the physical world, and his spirit will forever remain intertwined with hers.
Jewel is survived by her daughters, Darlene and Tammie; her brother and sisters; an extended family comprising nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives who were touched by her grace and generosity.
The farewell to this remarkable woman will take place at the New Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas, on May 31, 2025. Friends and family will gather to pay their last respects during a Funeral Service commencing at 11:00 AM, followed by the closing commemoration at 12:00 PM.
In the hearts of all who knew her, Jewel Lee Moore remains an indelible presence, a joyous echo that lingers long after the last dance has been danced. Her light, bright and bold, will continue to shine through the generations that follow, a precious reminder of a life lived unapologetically and authentically.
