JOHN THAD MORGAN "PETE"

November 7, 1931 — January 28, 2024

John Thad Morgan,"PETE" a beloved figure known for his vibrant personality, generosity, and passion for life, has passed away at the age of 92. Born on November 7, 1931, in Seguin, Texas, John touched the lives of everyone he encountered with his infectious spirit and unwavering devotion to family and friends.


John's journey began in his hometown of Seguin, where he attended Ball High School and laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. After completing his education, he bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army. His military service was a testament to his dedication and commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.


Following his time in the military, John embarked on a remarkable career that saw him excel in various roles. As a cook at the V.A. Medical Center and later as an ice cream truck driver, he brought smiles to countless faces with his delicious creations and warm demeanor. John's love for food extended beyond his profession; he was always eager to share his culinary skills with loved ones at family gatherings and social events.


Beyond his career achievements, it was John's immeasurable impact on those around him that truly defined his legacy. His outgoing nature ensured that he never met a stranger - everyone he encountered became an instant friend. John's friends and family will fondly remember watching him dance with style and, captivating all who were fortunate enough to witness it.  One of the fondest memories shared by Kelcy was as a child, John would take her everywhere - guiding her through life's adventures with love and encouragement.  Kendrick remembers the bonding though  the many fishing trips they took.    As for Keith , John's son, remembers how he embraced his role as a grandfather with unparalleled joy and devotion. He treated his grandchildren as if they were his own children, creating lasting bonds that will be treasured forever.


John's  zest for life that was palpable, and he lived it to the fullest. He was the life of every party, always ready to entertain and leave a lasting impression on those who crossed his path. His genuine nature endeared him to many, and he made sure that nobody felt left out or alone in his presence.


In his free time, John pursued his passions wholeheartedly. He found solace in fishing, using it as an opportunity to connect with nature and reflect on the beauty of the world around him. Additionally, he acted as a mentor to men and young men, imparting his wisdom and guiding them on their spiritual journeys.


Among John's proudest accomplishments were the successes of his son and grandchildren. Keith, following in his father's footsteps, has grown into a remarkable individual thanks to John's unwavering support and guidance. Likewise, Kendrick and Kelcy Morgan, John's grandchildren, have blossomed into successful individuals who carry on his legacy of kindness and compassion.


John is survived by his devoted wife for 69 years, Maggie Morgan; his loving son Keith Morgan; grandchildren Kendrick Morgan and Kelcy Morgan; great-grandchildren Kendrick Morgan Jr., Keyon Morgan, and Kynnedi Morgan; niece Felecia Lee; great-niece Rhyann Lee; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and cherished members of his church family.


It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to John Thad Morgan. Please join us in celebrating his life at the services that will take place in the coming days. The viewing will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home and A Crematory in Dallas on February 6th from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM. On February 7th at 11:00 AM, we will gather at Golden Gate Baptist Church for a Celebration of Life ceremony to honor John's remarkable journey. Following this celebration, we will proceed to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery for the burial, which will take place at 2:30 PM.


John's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but let us find solace in remembering the impact he had on our lives. His infectious laugh, his zest for life, and his unwavering love for his family and friends will forever bring warmth to our hearts. May we carry on his legacy by embracing life with the same fervor and dedication that John exuded throughout his remarkable journey. As we say goodbye to him, let us celebrate a life truly well-lived.
